FRANKLIN — Westhaven residents, meet your new neighbors.
Stephen and Michelle Sadler have two children, 5-year-old Will and 3-year-old Ellie Grace, and are on a lucky streak.
After winning the $550,000 St. Jude Dream Home in Westhaven subdivision off of Highway 96 West, the Nashville family plans to move from their 1950s ranch-style Westmeade house to their new home in Franklin.
"They've already picked out their own rooms. Ellie Grace picked the ballerina room. Will wants the room with the window and the closet," Michelle Sadler said.
The family won the house as a grand prize in a giveaway drawing as part of a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. All 16,000 available tickets, which went for $100 each, were sold in the contest, bringing in $1.6 million for the Memphis hospital.
The new 3,158-square-foot brick home features three bedrooms and three and a half baths along with a covered front porch, walk-through butler's pantry, a kitchen island, a courtyard off the master bath, formal dining room and upstairs den.
And the couple knows a good house when they see one. They both just happen to work in the Re-Max Elite of Brentwood office.
The Sadlers were shocked when they received a call from contest officials announcing that they were the winners of the top prize on June 28. Usually, the family tours the home and watches the live drawing broadcast on WZTV-Channel 17. But this year, time got away from them.
"We've bought tickets every year. Not to win. Of course, we thought it would be nice to win, but we do it to benefit St. Jude, whose mission we really believe in," Michelle said.
