McKinney, Texas – Tucker Hill, a Southern Land Company community located on Highway 380 in McKinney, is preparing for its second annual county-wide Spring Market. This year’s market is also sponsored by the McKinney Performing Arts Center
The festivities are scheduled for April 25, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Founder’s Square in Tucker Hill (www.tuckerhilltx.com). The event is free and open to the public.
The Tucker Hill Spring Market will be patterned after an open air Farmer’s Market, but instead of produce, people will be treated to an abundance of flowers and plants provided by YC Nursery and the Tucker Hill horticulture team. In addition, landscape demonstrations will be offered by Landscape Studio. For those who are fond of potting plants, Tucker Hill’s very own flower lady will be offering demonstrations throughout the morning.
“This is our way of welcoming spring to Collin County,” said Mary Day, director of marketing for Tucker Hill. “We have a lot to offer people with green thumbs, and even more to offer for people seeking a neighborhood where activities such as spring markets and outdoor entertainment are common. It’s a great way to kick off your spring and meet a lot of new people.”
Entertainment will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the main stage with an appearance by Zane Williams followed by Rayla Ray at 11:00. Then at noon, Jimmy Barcus will also perform on the main stage. The McKinney Repertory Theater will be performing scenes from Steel Magnolias on the porch of the Bradford House, and North High School Artists, McKinney Art Club and the Emerging Arts group will be painting around the Tucker Hill Fountain throughout the morning and early afternoon.
Families with young children can paint small terra cotta pots as keepsakes, enjoy a hot dog in the park, and walking through the neighborhood.
