People will get the chance to see the various styles of homes featured in Tucker Hill during a parade of homes that will begin this Saturday and last through June 8, and will feature skydiving demonstrations and musical performances.

Located north of US 380 between Custer Road and Lake Forest Drive in the Prosper ISD, Tucker Hill is a master planned community located at 7270 West University Drive, where there are currently about 30 newly built homes that are for sale.

Tucker Hill will ultimately have 2,200 homes when it is completely built out. Eight home styles will be featured in the parade of homes, which will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays with the exception of Memorial Day. The parade of homes will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. an assortment of events will be featured each Saturday and Sunday.

A battle of the bands concert will be held this Saturday. One-hundred Harley Davidson motorcyclists will drive their motorcycles from Arlington and act as the official grand marshals of the parade at 10 a.m. this Saturday. Home-related demonstrations will be featured on a large stage and food and drinks (including beer and wine) will be available for visitors.

Members of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas, an organization that helps children who have life-threatening medical conditions experience their greatest wish, will have a breakfast at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Tucker Hill. Skydiving demonstrations will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.

Employees of the Pat Lobb Toyota dealership in McKinney, the first Leadership in Engineering and Environmental Design dealership built in the United States, will discuss ways people can help the environment on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 during the green weekend. IESI, which handles trash pickup and recycling for McKinney residents, and other green vendors who feature environmentally-friendly products will also have booths at the parade of homes during the green weekend on May 31 and June 1. A representative from Southern Land Company will demonstrate how to plant sustainable horticulture for the North Texas area.

The parade of homes will end with an art festival on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. The art festival will feature art work, performance art and an interactive children’s art project. Bailey Brown, an American Idol contestant on season six of the TV show, will perform on June 8.

“This will be the parade of homes to remember,” said Jim Cheney, vice president of communications for Southern Land Company. “The Tucker Hill team, the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas and Southern Land Company have been planning for months to create a parade program that is innovative beyond the typical tour of high-end homes. This will be an opportunity for the Dallas and Fort Worth area to see something extraordinary in the development of new communities,” Cheney said.

The homes that will be featured in the parade of homes are:

The Emory home, a Victorian Queen Anne home, which is 3,200 square feet and costs $499,000.

The Powell House, 3,740 square feet and a Colonial style home that costs $624,990.

The Bainbridge Tudor home is an English Tudor style home that is 4,499 square feet and costs $799,000.

The Bordeaux is a Tudor style home that is 4,684 square feet that costs $829,990.

The Bradbury House is a 4,879 square foot home that costs $829,000.

The Somerset home is an English Tudor style home that is 5,265 square feet and costs $839,990.

The La Maison d’Ashley, which is 6,449 square feet and costs 999,990, and is described as a French eclectic home.

Southern Land Company is developing Tucker Hill and Darling Homes, while Flagstone Custom Homes and Southern Land Company Homebuilding are building the homes. Tucker Hill will feature two town centers, with the first one being located in the southern section of the property that fronts US 380. That town center will consist of a village with restaurants, smaller retail outlets and possibly some office space, Cheney said.

The second town center will be in the northern section of the property, where Stonebridge Drive will be extended to and Bloomdale Drive. Still some years away from being constructed, it will contain larger tenants, such as a grocery store. This town center will be located at the corner of Stonebridge Parkway (not yet extended) and Bloomdale.

Tucker Hill has designated 20 to 30 acres for a Prosper ISD school site. The Prosper ISD has not determined if it will utilize the land for an elementary school or middle school, and there are no immediate plans to build the school, Cheney said.
